Ever since the establishment of Plato`s Academy in the 4^th c BC in Athens, and even from much earlier times, homo-sapiens have been striving hard to achieve knowledge to unseal the mysteries of the world and to sail beyond the horizons.  The schools, colleges and universities are categorical points to help inspire human endeavour in the right way. Ours is a small point in the indefinite index, but almost fifty years of hard work and commitment have paved way to the reasonable repute of a distinguished institution in the reason.

Swami Sahjanand PG College, Ghazipur, formerly known as Swami Sahjanand Saraswati Vidyapeeth Mahavidyalay, Ghazipur was established in July, 1972 with an initial affiliation with Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur. With the establishment of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur in 1987 as a state university under UP State Universities Act, 1973, the College got a privilege to be included in the fraternity of this university amongst the 68 affiliated colleges.

It started its odyssey in 1972 with 7 UG subjects, 7 teachers and 101 students, and it has widened its spectrum, currently comprising of three faculties including 16 UG and 6 PG subjects, and 45 committed faculty members there-in. As among the EIGHT UG/PG Colleges - non-govt and govt-aided – of the Ghazipur district of the eastern UP, ours is the premier institution of higher education.

Located at the heart of the city of Ghazipur, Swami Sahjanand PG College is well-connected by train (NE Railway) and road transport. It is at about pretty 2.00 kms distance from Ghazipur City railway station and at the equi-distance from the roadways bus-stop, 75 kms east on the Varanasi-Gorakhpur NH 29 road.
